| New Zealand Geographic is the launching an annual photography competition, with an oppurtunity to win $7000.
The New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year Awards, will be open to amateurs, professionals and students alike with seven categories,
Entrants are invited to submit images to either wildlife, culture, landscape categories, each with $1000 prizes on offer.
Four further awards will be drawn from the entire pool of submissions, with the Inspirational Moment, Young Photographer of the Year and the overall winner, the NZ Geographic Photographer of the Year Awards all in the running for $1000 cash.
Timex expedition watches and access to the New Zealand Geographic Trust Young Guns Mentoring Scheme will be offered as prizes for excellent photography.
Announced in November, entries close 10pm on Sunday 13 September. Entry is free, and photographers retain copyright of their images.
